Lollipop is the biggest Android update yet released by google, featuring a pleasant new design and loads of clever features that enhance the user experience. RK3288, the latest generation chip of Rockchip will take a lead in supporting Android 5.0 Lollipop.

1. Material design 

The design approach used by the software is called Material Design, and it’s characterized by flatter icons, realistic lighting and shadows, vivid new colors, new typography and more.

2.  Notifications and interruptionsNotifications shine more beautifully than before, with iOS-style lockscreen appearances. They have tons of customization options so that you can decide how your notifications are to be controlled.

3. Longer battery life
Android 5.0 Lollipop happens to feature a nifty battery saver of its own. This is capable of providing 90 minutes of additional usage when put into motion. The OS is more power efficient than its predecessor as well.

4. Security
Security is also a key ingredient in this operating system, even as full device encryption has been granted to it. Then there’s a kill switch for triggering it to become useless if stolen.

5. Devices sharing
If you  forget your phone, you can use another device such as a tablet to access your personal information by logging in your account. The new system also comes with Guest mode for phones and tablets, so if for some reason your friend wants to use your device, they can do so without being able to see your personal information.

6. Stronger performance
Android 5.0 introduces platform support for 64-bit architectures—used by the Nexus 9's NVIDIA Tegra K1. Optimizations provide larger address space and improved performance for certain compute workloads. Apps written in the Java language run as 64-bit apps automatically—no modifications are needed. If your app uses native code, we’ve extended the NDK to support new ABIs for ARM v8, and x86-64, and MIPS-64.

7. Enhanced camera and videoThe new system introduces promotion of audio, video and camera. There's also built-in USB audio support, so devices running Lollipop should be able to use professional audio equipment like microphones, speakers, amplifiers, mixers and so on.  It also support for OpenGL ES 3.1,which makes android stands at the leading edge of graphic processing as well as the desktop devices . Android 5.0 introduces all new camera APIs that let you capture raw formats such as YUV and Bayer RAW, and control parameters such as exposure time, ISO sensitivity, and frame duration on a per-frame basis. The new fully-synchronized camera pipeline allows you to capture uncompressed full-resolution YUV images at 30 FPS on supported devices.

There are some other exciting additions, such as new keyboard, stronger bluetooth with lower power consumption, new keyboard, advanced connectivity, support for more than sixty new languages and device sharing options, and so on.Functions like flashlight, hotspot, screen rotation and cast screen will also be introduced through this update.
